At the MNA Annual Meeting in October, the 2024 recipients of the Good Neighbor Awards were announced: David Hecht and Ellen Henningson!
David is a cornerstone of our neighborhood, known for his incredible dedication and involvement. He serves on the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center board, curates the main stage at the Willy Street Fair, and goes above and beyond in countless ways. One memorable highlight was his backyard concerts during COVID. Several times during lockdown, David brought joy to the community by hosting free shows, allowing over 100 people to safely gather near the O’Keeffe/Marquette field to enjoy live music together.
David is one of those neighbors who always shows up—an all-around great guy and a true asset to our community!
For decades, our neighbor Ellen Henningsen has dedicated her time and energy to enhancing our community through her tireless work with Blair Street Gardens and other neighborhood green spaces. As she steps down from her leadership role this year, her legacy will continue to flourish, inspiring others to carry on her commitment to bringing joy, beauty, and a welcoming atmosphere through gardens around our neighborhood.
We are luck to have Ellen as as such a great neighbor!
